I remember that we protested on this issue of cancer inducing air levels on Bhaktapur when we were kids. It was organized by a tiny group of concerned individuals living on surrounding areas close to the klins. We only managed to anger the other residents of Bhaktapur for talking bad about their dear leader (Bijukchhe). The thing is, building these Brick klins so close to human residency is absolutely devastating to the health of people and increases the chance of lung cancer as well as heart diseases. They are also illegal as far as the law of Nepal is concerned. Somehow, under the leadership of Bijukchhe(who Bhaktapur people consider to be their absolutely infallible lord and savior), these klins have flourished. I'm sure the cancer and heart diseases rates have also gone up since then, but lucky for Bijukchhe, nobody cares enough to keep data on those.
